Gawd, it's not like it's tucked away at the bottom of the page or something.

But yeah, it's true.

Hey stickyboy, you could also try not reading the reviews. I know I won't be.

Sad to see Twilight Princess for the GC get delayed.

I mean I planned on buying both, but I'm just wondering if the Wii remote will get annoying or gimmicky for Zelda, but I guess we'll find out.

Why in the word would you buy both versions?

You're asking that to someone who owns a Best Sellers, and regular edition of Link to the Past. :)

I don't know, I love Zelda. But the main reason is kind of basically what I'm afraid of, the Wii remote being gimmicky with the gameplay. So, lets say it is ... I'd have the GC version to play normally like a regular Zelda game.

I guess I'm probably the only one who thinks like this. <_<

There's a good write-up on Zelda st http://blogs.ign.com/TheSilentAssassin/. This guy is pretty well-known in the Zelda community, I think he did a good job. Scroll down to the second newest article for his entry on Zelda Wii controls. Although his newest one is great too.

EDIT: C0mbustion, no, you can't.

Hmm, not the most exciting news I've read about, but he does make some good points.

I pretty much guessed it was a sales decision to delay TP for the GC, and this guy turns that into a good arguement.

If you're a crazy collector you would. I'll be buying both versions eventually.

Unless there's a surprise bonus with the GC version, it's pointless.
That's one extra purchase that Trauma Center should be getting instead.

That's what I'm saying. A crazy collector would be more interested in getting more games instead of buying the same (and possibly inferior) game he already owns.

Did you guys read the blog? >_>

There's obviously going to be a huge gap with the controls that could make or break the game.

Edit: Okay, yeah after thinking about it ... well I'm thinking I'll get the Wii version with the launch and all that, and if it turns out I don't like the controls or something I'll probably get the GC version. If its fine, I probably won't.

Bleh. :P

From what I read, it took a little time for him to get used to the new controls, but after that he was pulling off the same move he did in previous Zeldas. No doubt the control scheme will be wonky at first, but after a few hours I'm sure it will be second nature.

I remember the first time I tried to play Halo, using two analouge sticks to control an FPS was about the most frustrating thing ever. Now I'm just as good with a controller as I am with mouse and keyboard. Yeah yeah, Proph and TS, crack your jokes. I know you want to. It's new and crazy but before the year is out, it will be old hat.

I heard that the controls for the latest builds of Zelda are pretty good. I'll be buying the Wii version at launch, and if I don't like it, I'll trade it in for the GC.

So, Hobo, just so that I'm completely sure (and I've read conflicting reports), will the Wii have ports for existing gamecube controllers? Reserving through Gamestop/EB with $50 trade in is pretty awful, but having little other option, I want to know whether the cube I'll be handing over ought to be accompanied by its controllers. I figure holding on to the ones I've got will save me from buying the Wii's classic gamepads if that will work.

Yeah, it will. I'm more than sure this has been covered before, since some Wii games will be strictly using the GC controllers anyways. Smash Bros Brawl being an example.

So yeah, really once you have a Wii ... may as well pack away the GC, or something.

Just to clarify on the pre-orders, you have to trade in $50 worth of stuff to put one down. They, for some unknown reason, supposedly are not taking cash or credit cards.
all of the ebgames/gamestops in my area say they aren't taking pre-orders until october when they find out how many they are getting in.

The Wii is equppied with 4 controller ports and 2 memory card slots under a flap on the top. It's also been confirmed that Wavebird recievers fit in the ports too. I'm assuming that they can be used as an alternative for the Classic Pads, but I'm not 100% sure of that.

Thanks.

I've called up every game store in the area and it seems that not a one has any idea when reservations for the Wii will begin. Only a single place I called could even guess that they might start taking them "next month." Has anybody else had similar luck in attempting to determine when this will happen? None of the Gamestops had even heard of the "trade in $50 as deposit" thing.

Not really. Gaming stores in the US probably got the brunt of the nasty public when it came to the 360 shortage, even though it wasn't their fault. They are just trying to prevent that from happening again. I would do the same thing in their shoes.

There could be more Wii Channels hinted at in the various domains and trademarks from Nintendo.

And I heard that Amazon has run out of pre-order slots, which is pretty cool.

Yeah, I went to the local EBgames today and traded my zelda preorder from GC to wii. They still just said october for pre-orders. The guy working said he wanted to know too because he wanted to preorder his ASAP. Hmm, I guess i'll keep checking back...

We had a system where you could register interest in the system, and then they'd contact you when details are available. Now that we can pre-order, it's a first-come, first-serve system. I'm number 6 8) .

And Amazon sold out in 4 hours: http://wii.qj.net/Wii-Pre-Order-in-Amaz ... /aid/66513

EDIT: Oh man, I'm gonna need more cash for this launch: http://gonintendo.com/?p=5754

EDIT 2: Oh s**t, even the Nintendo World Store has run out: http://gonintendo.com/?p=5756

And Nintendo has officially stated now that the Wii is region encoded.
