Yeah, I'd doupt it since it never even got a US release.
I'd love to see some unreleased games for the VC though. Seiken Densetsu 3, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, Tales of Phantasia (SNES!), are a few that come to mind.

Nice.
"Nintendo plans on having 60 Virtual Console titles available to Japanese Wii owners by the end of the year, breaking down to 30 from Nintendo platforms and 30 from the other platforms. Starting next year, the company hopes to release 10 new titles every month. It's unclear if this latter number is an internal target for Nintendo itself, or if it includes titles from third parties."
Also nice. Not simply an equal number of just 3rd party titles, but non Nintendo platforms? They have the right idea.
I thought the number of genesis/ msx/ turbografix games would be drastically behind for starters.
One thing i'm wondering about though... According to the news thread the Japanese Wii launch will have more MSX titles at launch? If they really push for a region free concept, it'd be nice for virtual title availability to be universal. Maybe it will be but they're just giving a treat to their homeland for starters?

Here's a question: For those pre-ordering, where are you pre-ordering? Anyone seriously going to camp out? I'm ordering this weekend but I have no idea where. I'm trying to research on what deals are the best. No way I'm camping, though.
I talked to a manager at gamestop. He highly doubts they are even doing preorders. I will camp out, most definately. I want this more than I wanted the PS2 when I preordered it 6 months before it's release.
Also, I let my wife take my ds lite to work with her. Sweet candy, Wii-purchasing laced candy.

I'd guess that the easier mistake to make is claiming there will be no region-encoding while unaware that this isn't the case versus simply imagining the region-encoding and making announcements about it without any reason to do so.

Region-encoded or not, I'm still getting this system without any hesitation. Besides, as soon as the new Action Replay Wii comes out, you'll be able to play games from other regions anyway.
And I got it easy for my Wii. One of my roomate works at Wal-Mart. As soon as it ships, he's gonna put one up in back and buy it on launch day (even though employees not supposed to), along with Twilight Princess. I have to pay for it, of course, but it'll be at a 10% discount.

Mr UK dude says that Perrin's comment was a mistake. It's no big deal really, but I got excited there for a minute.

Come on, we all know it's gonna be region-free for the Americans and region-specific for the UK!

What is the business-logic behind Region Encoding?
Why does the USA care if I import a copy of a game, that isn't released yet in America, from Japan?

I'm hoping that Mr Yarton there doesn't know s**t. I know he mentioned something about playing Metroid online with your friends before being silenced by a PR rep, so perhaps there's hope.

PAL/NTSC? Is that still a concern with modern television sets?

Considering the type of s**t we get these days, there's hardly ever a reason to import anymore. Unless you guys are the "can't wait and can read other languages fine" type. If it stays region-free I'd probably only get wacky rhythm games or puzzlers that have no chance in hell of being localized.

Yeah, but for Europeans it's a handy feature, as we get screwed over on release dates. For example WarioWare Twisted is not out here, and neither is Metroid Prime Pinball, both of which I own thanks to the region freeness of GBA/DS.

Coincidentally, thanks to the region freeness of the DS, I can play the European copy of Metroid Prime Hunters that I found on a bus in London.

As far as general level of status in the corporate ladder, I'd believe Perrin Kaplan before David Yarnton.

Where have you ever worked where the higher ups know anything about what's going on within their own company, Arrow?

Sadly yes, the Wii and it's games are region encoded.
And while Japan aren't getting Wii Sports as a pack-in, they are getting the Opera Browser free until June: http://gonintendo.com/?p=5592
There's some good news in the world today though: http://www.4colorrebellion.com/archives ... n-the-wii/
You yanks will probably be interested in this too: GameStop is taking PS3/Wii pre-orders for ONE WEEK ONLY, starting on Monday.

Just to clarify on the pre-orders, you have to trade in $50 worth of stuff to put one down. They, for some unknown reason, supposedly are not taking cash or credit cards.

That's f**ked up. Over here we have to put down £20 to pre-order, which I did when GameStation opened this morning.

Ha yea just heard about that. You also can't use store credit received from past trade ins. Some employees are shooting it down and saying it's fake, but they'll know soon enough, I imagine.
