The Indie Music Cancer Society will release its 2010 compilation, Songs for the Cure ‘10, on March 1, 2010 and forward 100% of all donations and profits to the American Cancer Society.

The album will feature music from over 30 artists, and included in that pile of music is a new Stemage song called The Challenger. The track will not be appearing on the new Stemage album slated for release later this year.

YOU CAN MAKE YOUR CONTRIBUTION HERE :)

All donors of $25 or more before March 1, 2010 will receive a free physical copy of the album. Supporters with $10 or more will receive a free digital copy.

The crew raised over $6,000 for the event last year and is still forwarding profits from last year’s album, available on iTunes, Amazon, and others.  The fundraiser aims to raise $10,000 by April 23, 2010.

That’s not a lot of money for a WHOLE lot of music and a great cause. Help us out guys! DONATE. :)

You can grab the song here. It’s a wild one – taking the shape of something more like Boss Medley in structure, as opposed to the verse/chorus/verse style of other newer tracks. It’s very “old school” in that regard.

There are 3 distinct movements with segues. I did a lot of experimentation with guitar sounds and soundstage (check it out on headphones). I also recorded one of my brother’s drum solos and turned it into ambiance – you’ll hear it. The funny thing is that all this music exists in the original track in the same order. Be sure to listen to the original to compare. It was already a mess. ;)

So yeah, welcome to my crazy huge prog epic thing – hope you like it. It hurt my most-of-me.

I have firm plans for the next track, and I want to get the foot back up on the monitor for it.  So, you can expect a pretty straight forward metal track. You can’t really take it further into space than with the ending of Super Metroid.
